the raw materials

Royah mostly makes use of indigenous hand-loomed fabrics, working with local artisans to improve the design. Some of the native fabrics are the famous Chapan material, which originally comes from Mazar-e Sharif; precious silks hand-loomed in Herat; traditional Ikat, which is popular throughout Central Asia. Royah also utilises fabrics from neighbouring regions such as Chitrali wool.

These and other textiles are reinterpreted in innovative ways yet always keeping the essence of Afghan traditions.
