the embroidery work |
|
Afghanistan is well known for the quality of its embroidery work. Every ethnic group has its own signature design and Afghan women are traditionally the masters of the art. The women of Kandahar and in fact, all Pashtun women, are known for the magnificent geometric designs in embroidery. You can still see elements of the ancient tribe Lakai, who used to venerate the natural elements such as the Aftab (Sun) and the Mahtab (Moon). Afghanistan’s nomadic people, the Kuchi continue to impact the embroidery work with their vibrant and colourful patterns. |
